A slice of life session is…
… NOT a staged portrait session. No grassy fields or sandy beaches at sunset with everyone staring happily at the camera lens.
I love to photograph those picture-perfect sessions. Do you know what I love to photograph even more? Authentic, real life. Sometimes real life includes a temper tantrum. Or a lot of chocolate cake. Or breakfast in a blanket fort. Sometimes these sessions include a lot of imaginations and story-telling, fun activities like baking or visiting a bakery or even a library. Sometimes these sessions include napping, dreaming, snacking, snuggling, painting, walking, playing…
A Slice of Life session is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a session that captures a little Slice of (your) Life.
Real life. Real you.
These sessions even include vacations! Maybe you are visiting Maine or New Hampshire (or anywhere else, for that matter) for the first time ever or for your 20th time… Slice of Life sessions are a great way to capture your family, together, enjoying your time and creating memories. In this case maybe it could include some running around and playing on a sandy beach.
A Slice of Life session is a little different than your typical portrait session. They are longer, for one. It can be for 3-4 hours in the morning at home or for an entire day, literally from beginning to end.
What would be the end result from your Slice of Life session? It’s something tangible. Something you can hold on to. Something that you can pick up and look at along with your family. Whether that something is an album of your day or a box of fine-matted prints that you can open and pick up each piece, it will be a tangible product.
