Although it isn’t very close to where I live, the Damariscotta Lake region is so beautiful that I will take every opportunity to drive up the coast to get my fix. The M Family offered another chance for me to get up to the MidCoast region and at an earlier time in the day than I normally get up there so I was able to make the most of the day! Damariscotta Lake is a narrow lake that stretches through Jefferson, Nobleboro, and Newcastle. At the northern end in Jefferson there is the Damariscotta Lake State Park which I have visited in the past.
Summer Session at Damariscotta Lake
This time around I had the chance to see more of the southern section in Nobleboro where the M Family had rented a house for the week. Like most lakes in Maine, it was surrounded by tall, wispy white pines and had a little wooden dock on the property to dock a boat, fish, and jump off into the water.
This session was particularly fun with three kiddos under the age of 3 and I captured some real (funny) parenting moments! I think sharing these in addition to the “wins” are important. Wrestling your kids and trying to be sure that they at least appear to be happy can be a challenge as we all know too well. At the same time, we want them to be true to their personalities and let them shine through.
This entire series (below) still makes me laugh! How many parents out there have had this happen? (All three of my kids did this to me, with or without a camera pointed at us. Sometimes they wanted to see what was in my mouth, sometimes they would say LET ME HUG YOU! all while grabbing my face……. Yay.)
Do you have a crew that you would love to wrangle together for a portrait to celebrate or just because it hasn’t been done before (or in a really, really long time)? I PROMISE it will be fun! Let’s make a plan – shoot me an email and make it happen!
