On a cold blustery afternoon, I headed a little north of Portland for a Falmouth Maine family photo home-session to photograph Nora’s grandmother with her great-grandchildren and squeeze in a few other family portraits as well.
Falmouth Maine Family Photography Session
The kids weren’t too jazzed about having their photo taken, but once we started and they realized that they could have fun and play in the yard and occasionally stop to snuggle and smile for the camera, I won them over. We gathered the kids up to attempt to photograph them together – but almost every family has that one child… the one who HATES whatever it is that you WANT them to do… (I can tell you that this is my family 100%!) so this task was a bit more challenging. We got it done though! After some time outside, Nora, the matriarch arrived and we quickly grabbed some images of her with the kids before scooting inside to warm up with some hot cocoa. Once they were properly warmed up (drinking your hot cocoa with 2 spoons is much more effective than only using one spoon!) we headed back out to play in the backyard to climb a small tree, get tickle-tortured, dab for the camera, and ham it up a little more. Everyone was a super great sport considering the frigid temps! My favorite image was created at the very end of their session. The final image that I grabbed as I was preparing to leave: their daughter was laying in the windowsill with their super old kitty just enjoying his company. It’s just a sweet moment between the two of them.
I later photographed the F Family again when Nora, the great-grandmother turned 90 and the family came in from all over the world to help celebrate. Check it out!
