Ogunquit has miles of sandy shoreline to offer the perfect backdrop for family beach portraits. There is the Little Beach, or what I fondly call the “secret beach” along Ogunquit’s Marginal Way that is the perfect backdrop for family portraits when the tide cooperates. I call it the secret beach because it is essentially non-existent when the tide is high, but when the tide is low, a sandy beach with large rocks appears and is the perfect spot for a quiet beach getaway and offers a large tide pool which is great for little kids.
I met up with the YL Family early one summer morning when the beaches were still empty and the tides were optimal for playing on this beach. It was a treat!
Ogunquit’s perfect location for family beach portraits…
Once he was released from his “prison” (where he couldn’t enter the water YET) it was all hands on deck and we had even more FUN!
The tide pool is perfect for kids of all ages. It’s shallow which is especially perfect for the smaller variety of children and when the sun is high, the water is warmed more than the actual ocean.
This was such a fun session… and I have to say that the very last image that I captured was such a well-rounded example of what it’s like being a parent of nearly any child that is close to a body of water (be it a puddle, lake, or vast ocean), and his expression of pure joy despite having his fun being cut shorter than he wanted just made my whole day!
