I had photographed the “T” Family the previous summer thinking that it would be their last summer together as a family at this long-time family home. I was surprised when Kate called the following summer to say that the house was finally under contract and would I be able to squeeze them in for their little family reunion in Kennebunkport for one last hurrah. Of course, this was a no-brainer for me, and thankfully, despite my incredibly ridiculous schedule, I happened to have the date open.
This time around, more members of the family were able to come up and they had everyone’s birthday parties together.
My little friend was slightly more cooperative this time around, although he still wasn’t thrilled. LOL
This time around, Kate was joined by not only her parents but also her brothers.
And no family reunion in Kennebunkport (or birthday party) is complete without a piñata (or two in this case, one for the girls’ birthdays and one for the boys’ birthdays).
Everyone got a turn.
And some did better than others… Holy smokes. I am surprised the shark is still smiling despite his current state of affairs.
I know how special this place was for Kate and I made a point to photograph the view from a few angles.
Closing some chapters in our lives can be great and others can leave us feeling a little sad. Knowing that you made so many happy and fond memories over the decades at a place as special as this is something to cherish. Count yourself lucky, again, that you were able to get one more summer, one more birthday party, one more beautiful evening on the back porch, and some photos to remember it by.
See what Kate said about her experience.
Are you having a family reunion in Kennebunkport or somewhere else in Maine? I would love to chat about your plans!
