I met the lovely “K” Family one early August evening for a family session at Footbridge Beach in Ogunquit. Joanne and Todd were vacationing with their two kids, ages 12 and 14, for the week, up from the mid-Atlantic to enjoy some time together.
When Joanne had messaged me originally she had stated that it had been 8 years since her family was professionally photographed together and wanted to update her family room photographs. Clearly, your kids change a lot in 8 years! When we talked on the phone to discuss options and how a session would look for her family, Joanne expressed that she knew that her kids weren’t the “playful little kids” that so many images show but that she felt it was important to record this point in their lives as they have changed so much. I couldn’t agree more! And, although her kids weren’t little, they were certainly growing into beautiful humans with their own uniqueness that shined through.
Footbridge Beach Family Photo Session in Ogunquit, Maine
Footbridge Beach is such a beautiful beach with soft, white sand for miles, pink beach roses along the edges of the sand and the marsh, and a footbridge (hence its name) that connects the parking area to the beach. It offers a wide variety of options for photographing families together. Joanne’s favorite place to be is at the beach and since they were already staying in Ogunquit, this place made the most sense to me.
Here was my goal. We all know that tweens and teens can be tricky subjects in many aspects of life. Evan and Leanna were two very different personalities and I knew that I had to be sure to capture them exactly as they are. Leanna made this so easy on me! Her spunky and adventurous side contrasted easily with her brother’s more introverted and reserved personality. I loved how they interacted with each other and it was clear that, despite his little sister trying to get a rise out of him, Evan loved his sister and she adored him. They were the cutest!

Joanne and Todd have a lovely family and I could have spent hours chatting with them, beyond our discussions throughout the session and afterward in the parking lot. Todd has a great enthusiasm for photography and photographing his kids sporting events and he was so happy to show me his work. (He’s soooo good at photographing action shots!) We had a great time discussing gear and our favorite pieces to shoot with for our specializations. I sincerely hope that my path crosses with the K Family again in the future!

Ogunquit is a magical little village on the coast of Maine and if you happen to have plans to come this way, we should definitely make a date to squeeze in a photography session while you are here. You will regret it if you don’t! Let’s chat and make it happen!
