Happy Anniversary to Nicole + Erik! I’m nearly a year late in blogging this Kennebunkport Maine wedding because, well, for those of you with new babies understand… The first year is all about survival mode. Blogging was at the bottom of the barrel. But no more! I am back again.
One year ago today, I photographed this lovely young couple at their Kennebunkport wedding on Goose Rocks Beach. The weather was crazy. It was pouring, cloudy, sunny, rainy, and voila! as they were preparing to depart for the ceremony the sun came out in the nick of time and we watched and listened to thunderstorms passing us both to the south and the north of us…
I seriously love when there is a trolley involved with transporting the bridal party. It is so much more fun that way!
No rain came until it was time to be introduced into the reception… As in the very moment that the The Music Man DJ said “…and here comes the bride and groom….!” and the skies opened and they dashed across the lawn of Emmons Preserve into their reception tent. It was crazy. They then hopped right into their first dance, sopping wet, and surprised everyone with the most fun and energetic choreographed dance I have ever seen!
Alas, with each storm comes an end… and what an ending it was! The rain stopped. The clouds broke. The most amazing rainbow appeared… AND, despite having told them that I was really done photographing them “formally” for the night, I didn’t have to do much convincing to get them out from under the tent and in front of the camera to capture this:
On top of the rainbow they got the most intense sunset I have seen. #nofilter
All in all, it was a magical night full of fun, hot feet on the dance floor, rainbows, blazing sunsets, and sparklers for playing with. I hope that the first solid year of marital bliss was exactly that. Bliss.
