York Maine is a popular vacation destination for families of all size (and all age ranges) as it offers so much for everyone. Miles of sandy beaches, amazing restaurants, amusement parks, ice cream and salt water taffy, rich New England history, and all the rest and relaxation one could possibly ask for. The L Family made the trek up to Maine for the 4th of July week and stayed in a beautiful rental on Long Sands Beach. They had me come along and record their baby, Josephine’s time on the beach with everyone…
Long Sands Beach Family Photography Session
As is all too common with babies, sometimes the sand is NOT a big hit at first. This was probably the funniest part of the session as I was all too familiar with this happening with so many babies (at sessions and with my own) over the years. Needless to say, everyone took turns holding Josephine since she wasn’t having ANY of it.
When the baby gets cranky, you find something silly to entertain them with, and in this case, it was a convenient rose from nearby beach rose bushes. We all took turns smelling the flower and at one point only I could smell the flower… eventually, she came around and let others have a turn. 🙂
It was only a matter of time before this happened, and thankfully it happened while I was still hanging around. Josephine sat in the sand! And then she gave walking around a go! (To be honest, the photograph of her parents diligently following her with their arms stretched ready to catch her if she fell is every parent with a new walker in the house and it is absolutely one of my most favorite images from this session.)
Once we had captured all the images that we were “allowed”, we parted ways with her grandparents so they could go get some ice cream and Josephine’s parents brought her back to the house to get her ready for bed. Touching sand with your feet and walking around on it is exhausting!
The L Family loved their week in York and they spent all the time on the sandy beach that they could fit in (with the less than cooperative tides). If you are planning a trip to York or another Southern Maine location I would love to chat with you about the possibility of scheduling a photography session! My summer schedule fills quickly so let’s chat soon!
