The L Family came to me with one simple request: they wanted fun, candid family portraits that captured their energy and personalities. And when you’ve got a toddler in the mix, let me tell you, that’s no small feat! But this session was an absolute blast from start to finish. We threw leaves in the air, ran in circles, had dad tossing the kids into the air, engaged in a little tickle torture, and even threw in a few shoulder rides along the way. Big Sister “A” definitely had the most fun—her adventurous spirit was so infectious, it was like we were all trying to keep up with her! I swear, that kind of energy should come with a transfer of power to the adults who have to keep pace with small children. It’s a totally unfair advantage for the kids—haha!
For the location, we chose a surprisingly perfect spot: a cemetery (yes, really!) with a peaceful, serene vibe. This location had everything we needed for a playful session. A couple of beautiful ponds tucked away in the back, dirt roads covered in a thick carpet of autumn leaves, and plenty of sticks for sword fights and trees to hide behind. The setting was so rich in texture and charm, and it provided the perfect backdrop for a truly fun-filled session.
The one thing missing? The resident ducks. They must’ve been off on an adventure of their own that day, leaving us with a little more room to explore and make our own fun. But even without the ducks, this session was everything the “L” Family hoped for and more. It was a true celebration of childhood joy, family connection, and the kind of playfulness that makes family portraits so special. I can’t wait for them to look back at these photos for years to come and remember all the fun we had!
