Baby J had never seen a parade – until Memorial Day. He always loves to watch the fire trucks rush down Beach Street, oddly it always seems to happen when we are walking his sister to school in the morning. He loves FLAGS, too. Oh, my word, does that child love a good flag blowing in the wind! It’s the one thing he actually enjoys about his bike trailer – the orange saftey flag.
Anyway, Memorial Day is now in the past and I am now getting to blogging on the fun that we had at the parade. We stopped at The Fern Leaf bakery and picked up some muffins – and evidently, everyone else had the same idea! The place was mobbed. 20 minutes later, I skidaddle out of the bakery with muffins (and a whoopie pie for later) to find David chatting up some nice old ladies who were admiring the baby. They walk towards our destination which is just in sight… Main Street. We go to the post office and set up shop next to a nice old dog and his human and sit on the curb. Note to self: do not give a baby a raspberry muffin without bringing baby wipes. Luckily there were enough strollers within a few feet of us so I had the pick of the litter as to who to ask for a few wipes to save us all from a disastrously sticky mess. It’s like I’m new at this parenting thing or something.
Cell-Phone-Selfie: Notice how he has a mouth-full of muffin and gently squishing it in his hands?
Being in the middle of downtown Saco means we are close to the end of the parade route which means it’s going to be a while before the beginning of the parade arrives. FINALLY, they make it up the hill of Saco Island and the wall of blue flashing lights gets everyone in an excited frenzy that it’s about to start!
Here it comes!
These nice old veterans were handing out flags from one of the parade cars and OH MY GOODNESS was Baby J soooo excited. His very own flag to poke his parents in the eyes with! Yessss!
I think, overall, the parade was a success and totally worth having a late morning nap that day. I can’t wait to introduce him to fireworks later this summer. :-O
Have a great weekend, everyone!
