A little scoot down the highway to Wells, Maine was in order this winter – I showed up bright and early to Erin and Nick’s household as they were enjoying a box of Congdon’s Doughnuts and luckily for me, they picked up my favorite doughnut for me! Butternut Crunch. I chomped down the donut with the three littles as they chattered about their breakfast and I spied the youngest in the corner of my eye as she picked up a few other specimens and took a bite of each… and maybe licked a few, too. haha!
Real Life
A round of morning not-so-routine stuff occurred:
Candyland
They then set off exclaiming that they wanted to play Candyland. For whatever reason, this game didn’t last NEARLY as long as it does in my own house. It was by far the most intense game of Candyland I had experienced, though, and it was magical!
First, you start off with The Horns… or I Love You… whatever your take is:
Then, get super excited that you are winning so early in the game!
I’ve taken a lot of cool shots over my lifetime, however, this is a top-10 photograph for me. I love Erin’s pure enjoyment in the crazy game that her kids are playing. Yes, Candyland can actually be a crazy game. And everyone in this house loves the game. Seriously, though. I may be biased but I love this shot.
Pig Piles
Later in the morning brought about pig piles on Nick —
If my three kids jumped on me like this two things would happen: (1) I would suffocate; and (2) a big kudos would be in order for the baby for figuring how to jump… never mind get up and move. Ha!
This is a serious pig-pile!:
Then Erin wanted in on the fun! I mean, really, look at the little guy’s face (below) on the far left! WHAT IS MOM DOING!?!? hahaha
Tea parties
After all that excitement, a quiet tea party with mom was in order—
Fresh Air
Then a romp around the yard, playing outside together — with sooo much mud —
Yee-Haw!
A quick surprise visit from grandpa which included piggyback rides and hide-and-seek —
Check it Twice
Making Christmas lists in February (it’s never too soon!) —
Minecraft
And what better way to unwind while your sister naps than a surprise gift from dad (see #3 on the list above) – Minecraft — !!!!
A big shout out to the “H” family for allowing me to come in to their home and photograph their day-to-day craziness with their kiddos. It was a ton of fun and I loved capturing these little moments for them that I hope they enjoy for a long time.
