I am a big fan of extended family vacations and having that time captured photographically. We are all so busy with work (and life in general) that getting together can be tricky, at best. The S Family did it right and rented this amazing house at Longs Sands Beach for their York Maine family vacation. Many of the beaches in Southern Maine disappear at high tide thanks to erosion over the years but at the time that we scheduled their session it was around low tide (which we did on purpose). The section of the beach that they were staying near was a rocky beach which offered some interesting ways to layer people around the rocks instead of a straight line. After we traversed the rocks and got the big group of everyone and basic groupings of each micro-family, we headed back to the house where I hung out for a bit longer and grabbed some fun photographs of the kids playing and a few more smaller groupings. They were a lovely family to meet. One of the families had just welcomes a new baby girl and (mostly) her oldest brother was so enamored by her presence it made my heart melt.
This little guy (who was four years old) did NOT want his photograph taken and was less than enthused until I put him to task and challenged him to see which of the four boys could jump the highest. Well, then he wanted me to just take photographs of him and his fancy tricks! I loved it.
