A Summer Maternity Session!
I loved this fun summer maternity session where Elle included her little tribe photographed to celebrate this point in their lives before the arrival of baby #3. We played in the grass, we captured as many group photographs as the young Finn would allow, they jumped in little pools of water and over the waves, made funny faces, played in the muddy sand, gave mom a bunch of hugs, and ran all over the place doing what they all do best. I even got Joe (dad) to do a little dancing in the water with his wife. It was a magical session. What I especially enjoy about this family is that each time I photograph them, Mom and Dad just roll with the punches and do whatever the kids allow to happen. They don’t try to force anything. Even though Elle fully admits that she may just want a particular photograph that she envisions in her mind, she couldn’t possibly love her images even more than she does because they reflect who her kids are now and they will change so much over time that she knows letting them and their little personalities shine through is way more important. “Perfection” is sometimes way different than what we think of in our minds. Sometimes perfection is exactly what is in front of us, even in all of its chaotic-ness. Remember, we should all stop striving for this unattainable perfection and start appreciating Now, the life that we have created for ourselves, so that we can see how far all of us have come over time. Can I get an amen!?
